The pretty pink flower seen often in wetlands is in the Primrose Family (Primulaceae) and is known as darkthroat shooting star or pretty shooting star (Dodecatheon pulchellum).
For more information on the darkthroat shootingstar, click here.
I found it at the valley bottom, about 5,400 feet near some springs. I haven't seen it up higher yet, but it should be working its way up the mountain soon.
This blog features a plant a day as I try to learn all the plants in the area where I live, in the central Great Basin. There are more than 1,000 plants known in this area, so it may take a few years!
Eventually I hope to have a photo for every plant listed in the Snake Range Key (link coming soon).

Wow, this one's a beauty. Haven't seen it yet, wanted to for a long time. Is it blooming out your way now?
